Zita Theresia Vogel, 80, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012. Born in Munich, Germany, she had been a permanent resident of Hampton since 1970, where she worked for 14 years as a banquet manager for Vic Zodda's Restaurant.
Mrs. Vogel was preceded in death by her parents, Friedrich Schaffler and Theresia S. Schaffler; brother, Friedrich Schaffler; and sister, Antonio Schaffler Reichenbach.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Robert Harold Vogel; sons, Friedrich Robert Vogel of Hampton, George Jay Vogel of Bartlett, Tenn., and Dennis Lee Vogel of San Diego, Calif.; and grandchildren, Mary, Kathleen, Toni, Freddie, Kelly, and John.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home, in downtown Hampton.
Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery, at a later date.
The family wishes expressions of sympathy to take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, 6350 Center Dr., Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23502
