Harold E. Derr, 101, formerly of Bethlehem, died Tuesday, December 25, 2012 at Blough Health Care Center, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Helen D. Derr (died June 22, 2012). Born in Hellertown on July 23, 1911 to the late Elmer M. and Annie M. (Snyder) Derr, Harold worked for the former A&P Tea Company of Northampton for 32 years until retiring in 1976. Prior employment included working at the former Bethlehem Steel Corp. for six years. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hellertown where he was past president and Elder of the church serving over 20 years.
Survivors: Daughters, JoAnne M. Wert of Williams Twp., Marie C., wife of R. Alan Lauer of Livermore, CA, Carole J. Smolinski of Reisterstown, MD; two sisters; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Predeceased by a daughter, Jeanne F. Kuschak (died 1/2/1987).
