She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Franklin Edward Wawner Jr.; three children and their families, Scott and Louise Wawner, Mark and Robin Wawner, and Susan and Arthur Wheeler Jr.; her brother, James E. Cuddihy Jr. and wife, Bonnie; and brother-in-law, James T. Wawner and wife, Ellie. She was known and loved as Mom Wawner to eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Frances married her great love Frank "Snookie" Wawner in 1953. A true Southern lady and Christian, she was a loving wife and wonderful mother to her three children, Scott, Mark and Susan. She called everyone, children to greats,"my darling babies".

She was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church in Cismont, serving on the vestry, Altar Guild, and as a lay reader for over 42 years.

Frances was a member of the Keswick Hunt Club and past president of the Keswick Garden Club. When she and a friend started the Tuesday Book Club in 1984, they never dreamed it would last for another 29 years or that they would almost never meet on a Tuesday. With her friend Harold Hallock she founded and was past president of the School House Thrift Shop.

A graduate of Piedmont Virginia Community College, she was proud to complete her B. A. in English literature at the University of Virginia at the age of 48. In her 70's she completed a program in Theological Education at The University of the South School of Theology.
