Born in Frederick County in 1898, he was a son of the late Jacob and Elsie (Kreglo) Kanode. Besides his wife, Mrs. Irene Mae (Lusby) Kanode; Kanode is survived by four children: Cynthia Delores, Martin L. Jr., Herbert R. and Edward Albert, all at home;
two brothers: Harold E. Kanode of Frederick and Robert J. Kanode of Lily Pons, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Frederick City Police Department for approximately 23 years retiring in 1961. He was also a member of Trinity Methodist Church and the United Steam Fire Engine Company of Frederick.
Burial will be in Hyattstown United Methodist Cemetery.
