Albert L. "Bud" Haworth, 86, of Benton, died at 9:03 p. m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Franklin Hospital in Benton.

Mr. Haworth was born on February 8, 1926 in Bloomingdale, IN the son of Albert Haworth and Blanch (Cox) Haworth. He married the former Sue Clarke on October 22, 1949 and she preceded him in death on May 4, 2006.

Bud, a retired airline pilot, was promoted to captain at age twenty-five making him one of the youngest air transport captains in 1951. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, the secretary of the Benton Municipal Airport Board of Directors, and most recently worked for the Benton Evening News.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Bobbie Dean Madden, Benton, Jackie Sue Haworth, Berwyn, IL, one grandson, John David Crowe, Berwyn, IL, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mr. Haworth was preceded in death by his parents, wife, four sisters, Edith Burris, Esther Rodenbush, Mary Dean Flanagan, Ruth Knox, and one brother, Robert Haworth.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a. m. to Noon Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Benton. A memorial service will be held at Noon Thursday at the church with Pastor Shane Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Mounds City National Cemetery, Mounds, IL. Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in Benton is in charge of arrangements.
