Proceeded in death by his parents.

Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

When we have the Memorial, we are going to bury some of the ashes at my Mom's grave. I have Ralph's wooden cigar box that I'm going to put some of his ashes in and take him for a ride on my motorcycle this Spring. I will then take him to the woods because that's where he was the happiest. He was an avid gun collector and deer hunter. He wanted a motorcycle but got a 4 wheeler to ride in the woods. He had arthritis in his knees so bad that he could barely walk. He took his live in ex wife to the hospital and passed away at home alone the next day. (Dec 15, the official date of death is Dec 20) No one checked on him for 5 days. The coroner advised me not to even look at the pictures he has because the body was in such bad shape. Ralph's ex-wife's son broke into the safe and took all of his guns. The best I can estimate, there were 50. We will go to court.

Today is Ralph's birthday. Tomorrow, we will have his Memorial at Hughes-Taylor Funeral Home in Salem, IN. We will take his ashes to St Joseph Hill Cemetery and bury him with our Mother. I will take some of his ashes on a Motorcycle ride, then scatter them in woods where he loved to hunt.

I didn't hire a preacher so I took my Bible and a few poems. I played some songs on my computer and talked from my heart. I told stories and read the 23rd Psalm. My 8 yr old granddaughter, Karissa wrote something and read it. It was really nice. Both my daughters talked about Ralph and read a poem. Melvin Branham, Ralph's life long friend told about how and when they met and how they called each other on their birthdays every year. I mentioned our childhood, our teenage years and a few funny stories, a few sad ones. I couldn't look at my older brother; he was so upset and I was trying to stay strong. I don't know how I did it without falling apart because I break down at home, at work, and just about anytime, at least once a day. We buried Ralph's ashes on Mom's grave. Karissa said one of her tears went in his grave along with the letter she wrote to him. We played a song at the grave and prayed. It was a beautiful day.......even tho we said goodbye, he's alive in our hearts.
