Doris was born and raised in the Pharsalia area, she attended schools in East Pharsalia and McDonough. After her schooling, she went to work as a bookkeeper for the Borden Cheese Factory in East Pharsalia. She also worked as a sewing machine operator for Norwich Mills during the war years, and as a state census taker out of Syracuse.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother, worked in the fields with her father, and took care of her mother in later years.
On 30 Jan 1949 she married Kenneth Beckwith Barrows in Oxford, NY. They were married for 43 years. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, youngest son, Kenneth Orra Barrows, Sr. and three siblings. Doris was the mother of two sons, one still living. At the time of her death she had six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, a brother and several nieces and nephews.
Doris died at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford, NY at age 86yrs, 4mos and 27ds.
