Robert "Bob" Raby
Franklin - Robert "Bob" Raby, 69, of Franklin, NC passed away Thursday, May 3, 2012. Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late George Lewis and Mamie Virginia Hooper Raby. He was married to Ruth Bernadine Williams Raby for thirty seven years. He was retired from General Motors in Pontiac, MI; he was a Mason and Shriner. He was a member of Watauga Baptist Church and attended Community Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife he is survived by one daughter, Shelli Rene Haggerty and husband Kevin of Davidson, MI; one son, Michael Robert Raby and wife Sharon of Waterford, MI; one sister, Betty Rowland of Franklin, NC and two brothers, Thomas "Tom" Raby of Olathe, KS and James "Dave" Raby of Nashville, TN. Six grandchildren, Krystina, Nicole and Michael "Mike" Haggerty and Nicholas, Hannah and Holly Raby also survive.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Watauga Baptist Church with Rev. David Williams, Rev. Wesley Price and Rev. Roy Lowe officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Herman Elkins, Nicholas Raby, Kevin Haggerty, Gary Elders, Willard Barrett, Henry Rowland and Larry Bishop. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Ammons and Doug Young. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM, prior to the service, at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Baptist Church, c/o Christa Ledford, 1361 N. Blaine Branch Rd., Franklin, NC 28734.
