Mr. Smith was born in Avon, Ind., and moved to Hastings 36 years ago where he has been a potato farmer. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Irma Ruth Huron Smith of Hastings, one son, Ivan H. Smith of Jacksonville; one daughter, Mrs. Amos Wyllys of Hastings; four grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Addison Ingraham of Danville, Ind.; five brothers, Barney Mathew and Nolan Ellis, Danville; Fred, Indianapolis; Carl Elbert Smith, Cambridge City, Ind.; and Arthur R. Smith of Muncie, Ind. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd Monday, 13 Mar 1950.)
