Mr. James Robert Absher, age 72, of Longbottom Road, McGrady, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at his home. Mr. Absher was born May 21, 1940 in Wilkes County to Monroe H. and Georgia Belle Taylor Absher. He was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Absher was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife, Marie Absher of the home; daughter, Andora Gambill and husband Danny of North Wilkesboro; two grandchildren, Jessica Gambill of Mooresville, Ethan Gambill of North Wilkesboro; brother, Woodrow D. Absher of McGrady; and two sisters, Kathy Adams of McGrady, JoAnn Myerhoffer of North Wilkesboro.

Graveside service will be held 11:00 o'clock Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at the Taylor Cemetery on Longbottom Road with the Rev. Leon Church officiating. The family will receive friends at Miller Funeral Service from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock Tuesday night. The family has requested no flowers or food. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wilkes, 1908 West Park Drive, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659. Miller Funeral Service is in charge of the arrangements.
