Don E. Nipper, 83, of Palatka, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at his home. A native of Hatley, Georgia, Don worked as an operations supervisor with Florida Power and Light in both Palatka and Miami until his retirement from FPL in 1987. He had also served in the US Navy during WW II. Don was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Live Oak as well as Moose Lodge #183, VFW post #3349, and the National Rifle Association (NRA). Don's hobbies included fishing, gardening, carpentry, and especially dancing.
He was predeceased by his wife Ann M. Nipper (1933-1991). He is survived by a son, Kerry Nipper and 4 daughters, Donna Schneider, Cindy Rogers, Sandy Glenn Brown and Libby Williams all of Palatka, 2 sisters, Barbara Milton of Live Oak, and June Morris of Mason, Ohio, 8 grandchildren, Brenna Rivera, Jared Glenn, Matthew Schneider, Cameron Rogers, Jana Williams, Justin Nipper, Austin Glenn, and Sarah Nipper, 3 great-grandchildren, Savannah Rivera, Madisyn Rivera, and Adrianna Schneider, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Saturday, May 15, 2010 at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Brother Charlie Rabun officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill East Cemetery in Palatka with the US Navy conducting military honors. (Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home Obituary)
