Daughter of Ralph H. Oliver and Anna Eliza Moore Oliver. Wife of Floyd E. Holes. Beloved mother, grandmother and aunt. Born in Pocatello, Idaho raised mostly in the Bradley-Wayland area. Mother of seven children. Ruth, Anna May Charlie Virginia Donna Floyd and Eli. May and Floyd lived in Middleville all their married lives starting in 1920. May served as a midwife and helped many area children come into the world. Always concerned about children, she would often go down to the Thornapple River and watch as children swam there. She would entertain young children during church services by making interesting things out of hankerchiefs. She loved games, puzzles and cards and played with children and grandchildren, no cheating allowed! May was an authority on the "Birds and the Bees" and was a generation ahead of Dr. Ruth! She always gave straight answers to her kids.
She liked to weave. She also crocheted and took it up at age 50! Bio partly taken from Memories of May given by the Rev. Carl Staser, Fri March 6, 1987 at May's memorial service. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of the Middleville First United Methodist Church. She was loved by her family...and is missed by all.
