Dr. Wesley Sherman Miller (1885-1937), 54, retired physician, died at his home here at 3:10 a.m. today, following a long illness that became acute a few days ago. He had been a sufferer from angina pectoris for several days.
A native of Brinson, Ga., Dr. Miller came to Palatka when a young man and began the practice of medicine here. He achieved success in his chosen field and ranked among the leading doctors of North Florida. Due to the needs of his own practice, he opened and operated Parkview hospital. Failing health caused him to retire from business and professional life.
During his long residence here, Dr. Miller was listed as among the most charitable and public spirited of local citizens. His charities were without ostentation and their extent was not generally known. Of strong character, he made and retained many staunch friendships.
Surviving are the widow and one son, L. D. Miller, prominent young local business man.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. with W. Carl Davis and Son in charge of arrangements, which are not yet complete. (Palatka Daily News Obituary dtd Friday, 5 Mar 1937.)
Funeral services for Dr. W. S. Miller, who died early yesterday at his home here, will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. from the St. James Methodist Church, with Rev. H. Spencer officiating.
Interment will follow at Oak Hill East Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be: Joe xxx, Porter Angel, Coy Hancock, Frank Sapp, Tom Perry and James Lamon.
The death of Dr. Miller, widely known retired physician, and founder of Parkview Hospital, followed a long period of ill health, during which he had suffered from angina pectoris.
