She was the daughter of David Thomas and Bessie Mae Heriford Taylor. She was a graduate of Centerville High School and attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. At Graceland, she met Dwight Vredenburg, who she married on April 25, 1937 in Chillicothe, Missouri. They were married 65 years and were the parents of three children. She worked side by side with Dwight in the Centerville Hy-Vee before moving to Chariton. She was involved in many civic organizations, including the Aeolian Singers, church choir, TTT, PEO, and Republican Women. Ruth enjoyed her children and grandchildren, and all of their activities, from sports to music recitals. She was a Girl Scout leader as well as a girl's 4-H leader.
She will be deeply missed by her children, John(Linda) Vredenburg of Chariton, Martha Vredenburg(Mike)Kraklow of Muscatine and Church(Rhonda) Vredenburg of Cumming; twelve grandsons; one granddaughter; five great-grandchildren; sister, Marge Barrett; sister-in-law, Helen(Roy)Van Der Kamp; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Bessie Taylor; grandsons, Brandy and Aaron Vredenburg; and husband Dwight Vredenburg.
