Lela M. Burkett, 94
DUNCAN FALLS - Lela M. Burkett, 94, of 3205 Boggs Road, Zanesville, died 11:44 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital emergency room.
She was born Jan. 30, 1912, in Eaton, W.Va., to the late William and Ida Miller Reynolds. Lela was retired from the Abbott Home in Zanesville and was a former member of the Chandlersville United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her four daughters, Wanda Carnes of Zanesville, Pearl Fesler of Zanesville, Carol Grandstaff of Blue Rock and Ruby Maxwell of Zanesville; two sons, Charles Burkett of Zanesville and Paul Burkett of Zanesville; 25 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Opal Wilson of Otsego and Bea Thomason of Texas; and a special helper, her granddaughter, Lindsey Shumate.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Burkett, who died in 1954; her sisters, Lina VanHorn, Mabel Bunner and Hazel Swope; brothers, Clifford, Gordon, and Ralph Reynolds; and a grandson, Frank Carnes.
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, March 31, at Thompson-Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2006, with the Rev. Roy Keyser officiating. Burial will be in Chandlersville Cemetery.
