Meridian Woman, Son Die in Collision
A Philadelphia man and his mother were killed early Monday when the car in which they were riding collided head-on with another car on 45th Avenue. Robert Green, 47, of Philadelphia, and his mother, Sadie Green, 69, of 4403 Terry Street, Meridian, were killed in the two-car accident which occurred about 9:06 a.m. Monday.
The driver of the other vehicle was in stable condition in the critical care unit of Riley Memorial Hospital. Emergency workers had to use equipment to remove the victims from the wreckage. According to police reports, a preliminary investigation indicated that the northbound pickup truck driven by Barnard was allegedly traveling at a high rate of speed as it entered a curve in the road. The truck crossed over into the opposite lane, where it collided with the Green vehicle. The accident remains under investigation.
