Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery.
Dwayne was born in Colorado City, Texas to Oren and Coryie Carpenter on July 21, 1941. He married Carolyn Sue Banks on July 14, 1962 in Midland, Texas and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this last summer.
Dwayne served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1962, going through basic training in Fort Hood, Texas and serving in Germany afterwards. He was employed by the Huntsman corporation, and several previous owners, holding multiple positions in maintenance and support for over 37 years. He attended Colorado City High School and took several continuing education courses related to his job over the years.
Dwayne is preceded in death by his father Oren, his mother Coryie, and his brother Lyndall.
Dwayne is survived by his wife Carolyn of Odessa, Texas; his son and his wife Rick and Shanna Carpenter of Oceanside, California; his daughter and her husband Suzy and Larry Young of Brownwood, Texas; his brother and his wife Darrell and Brenda Carpenter of Colorado City, Texas; 5 Grandchildren and 1 great Grandson.
Dwayne was a loving husband, dad, brother, grandpa, great-grandpa, cousin, and uncle and will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
