Benjamin Franklin Hudgins III, 92, St. Augustine, died July 10, 1998, at Samantha Wilson Care Center. He was born in Hampton, Va., and had resided in St. Augustine since 1970. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was retired from the wholesale lumber business, and he was a former vestryman at Trinity Episcopal Parish. He was a member of the Military Order of the World Wars, Confederate Veterans, St. Augustine Officers Club and the St. Augustine Rod and Gun Club.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Eleanor Houston Hudgins, and his second wife, Frances Howatt Hudgins. Survivors include two daughters, Elizabeth Wells, Richmond, Va., Lindsay Timmerman, St. Augustine; one son, Weyman Hudgins, St. Augustine; two sisters, Virginia Johnson, Tulsa Okla., and Lelia Johnstonm, Knoxville, Tenn.; one brother, Hollyday Hudgins, Palatka; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Craig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
