OBITUARY: REV. JAMES CONLEY BISHOP, JR.
Big Stone Gap, VA/McPherson, KS Rev. James Conley (Jim) Bishop passed away at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, November 25th at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Reno Co., KS.
James was born in Jasper, VA on February 14, 1936, a son of Elva Jane (Reed) and James Conley Bishop, Sr. Jim attended Jasper Elementary School and graduated from Dryden High School in Dryden, VA in 1955.
Through the years Jim served his Country in the U.S. Air Force and honorably served his Country as a radio operator, worked as a cashier, and slot machine mechanic for the Primadonna Casino, Harold's Club, and MGM, all of Reno, NV., and was a lay minister for United Pentecostal Church of Sparks NV. He curently was Pastor for the McPherson Apostolic Church of McPherson, KS.
Jim was united in marriage to Carolyn S. Keyes on September 15, 1958, at Reno, NV.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn S. Bishop of McPherson, KS; two sons, Robert (Diane) Bishop of McPherson, KS, and Greg (Patricia) Bishop of Sparks, NV; one brother, Dane Bishop of Titusville, FL; two sisters, Edith Vaughan of Duffield, VA, and Lillian Legg of Big Stone Gap, VA; two granddaughters, Nicole (Matthew) McClure of Sparks, NV, and Danielle Bishop of McPherson, KS, and one grandson, Matthew Bishop of McPherson, KS.
James was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Otelia Still, Loretta Galotta, Lela Fritz, and Janette Kappelman.
