POLL - Mr. Jay Poll, aged 78, of Grand Rapids, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 9, 1995 at home surrounded by his family.

Jay was born on May 16, 1916 and married Anne Margaret Van Dellen on that date in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII throughout the European Theatre and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a carpenter and St. Charles kitchen dealer for over 30 years and loved to fish, bowl and golf.

Surviving are his wife; and children and grandchildren, his son, David and Carla Poll of Grand Rapids, their children, Heather Poll of Grand Rapids, Scott and Shannon (Poll) DeWeerd of Grand Haven; his daughter, Pat and Donald B. Herbison of Stanton, their children, Bob and Michele (Herbison) Prawdzik of Grand Rapids, Jennifer Herbison and firance' Jeremy Swan of Stanton; his son, Bruce Poll, his children, Tiffany, Bruce Jr. and Jesse of Miami, FL. He is also survived by his brother, Alfred; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Anita Herbison and Jody Poll, his parents, John and Nellie Bolthouse Poll; four brothers and two sisters.

Funeral Services for Mr. Poll will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Brookside Christian Reformed Church, 3600 Kalamazoo SE, with Rev. Norman Meyer officiating. Interment Cascade Township Cemetery. Members of the family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the DeVries Funeral Chapel, 4646 Kalamazoo SE, Kentwood. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Christian Education Program of Brookside Christian Reformed Church or Heal the Children Fund.
