Obituary:
Austin Daniel Richard Studdard, 85, died Nov. 22, 2012, at the Miami County Medical Center.
He was born on May 18, 1927, near Mountain Home, Ark., to Thomas and Elizabeth Otten Studdard.
He was proud to have served his country in the Army Air Corp from 1946-1947. He attended Assembly of God churches. He served his Lord as a deacon, usher and part-time Sunday School teacher. He was a member of the Roofers Union Local 20, Kansas City. He worked for the A.J. Shirk Roofing Company for 31 years.
He married Bonnie Jean Millard on Aug. 23, 1952, at Butler, Mo. They became the parents of eight children.
When Austin was seven years old, a typhoid fever epidemic went through the community and his mother and grandmother died. Three years later, God gave him a wonderful stepmother, Mary Studdard. No child was more thankful to have another mother.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Kay Wilkins; one grandson, Roy Brown; a sister, Anna Kirkland; and a step-brother, Gilbert Rogers.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; three daughters, Betty Leach, Beverly Baldwin and Joyce Studdard; four sons, David Studdard, Steven Studdard, Clifford Studdard and Kenneth Studdard; a brother, Tommy Studdard; five sisters, Irene Cook, Eunice Smith, Gearlene Johnson, Liz Jennings and Dollie Patton; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was Tuesday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Burial was in the Woodfin Cemetery.
