Born August 1,1902, in Olean, he was a son of John and Mary Marcinko Cashimere. On June 25, 1928, he married the former, Mary F. Grega, who died January 12,1984.
Mr. Cashimere was a welder employed by the former Socony Vacuum from 1918 to 1954 and by Dresser Clark (now Dresser Rand) from 1956 until his retirement in 1970.
He was a member of St. John's Church, was active in the Olean Little League and was one of the original managers.
Surviving are eight daughters, Mrs. Leo (Joan) Skoda of Rockville, Md., Mrs. James (Marian) Henterly of Dearborn Hts. Michigan, Mrs. Joseph (Jean) Scech of Perrysburg, Ohio, Mrs. John (Rita) Jones of Lansdale, PA, Mrs. Gerald (Ellen) Baker, Mrs. Charles (Ann) Clarke, Mrs. Leo (Susan) Noonan, and Miss Dorothy Cashimere, all of Olean, a son, Paul Cashimere, of Olean: 33 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by six brothers and five sisters.
Friends may call at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc. 1303 E. State St. Olean, from 7 to 9 pm and Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to pm. Funeral services will be held Friday (February 23, 1990) beginning with a prayer service at 11:30 am in the funeral home, followed by a mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. John's Church. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure, Allegany. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held Thursday, at 8 pm. in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. John's Church or the Walsh Foundation.
