Mrs. Benningfield Dies At Son's Home
Mrs. Mime Newcome Benningfield, 78, died last Friday night at 9:50 o'clock at the home of her son, Will Newcome, on Depot Street. She had been ill for several months, suffering with an intestinal trouble.
Mrs. Benningfield was born in the Finley section March 1, 1865, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James H. Brockman, and had made her home in this county throughout her life with the exception of about one year spent in Taylor County. She was twice married. Her first husband, Sam Newcome, died forty-one years ago.
Later she was wed to John Benningfield, who preceded her in death twenty-four years.
Three sons and four daughters survive. They are: Will Newcome, with whom she made her home; Sherman Newcome of Greenbriar, Lige Benningfield of Arkon, Ohio; and Mrs. Monroe Ray of St. Joseph, Mrs.
Clarence Hardesty of Finley, Mrs. Earl Hubble and Mrs. Delmar Brockman, both of Akron, Ohio. Two sisters and a brother are deceased. A half-sister, Mrs. Kate Brockman, lives in Louisville, and several half-brothers also
survive.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Muldraugh's Hill Baptist Church,
by the Rev. G.E. Puckett and the Rev. W.C. Hundley. Burial was in the New Market Cemetery. Pallbearers were
Edgar Hardesty, Henry Benningfield, Paul Ray, and Gerald, Carl and Gilbert Brockman.
