Avenarius, LeRoy C, "Roy" Age 85, of Zion, lL died on Monday, August 20, 2012 at home. He was born November 28, 1926 in Dubuque, lA. He was a Veteran of World War II having served with the United States Navy at Pearl Harbor, Roy retired in 1989 from Cherry Electric in Waukegan. After retirement he was employed by the Village of Beach Park as a CSO officer and with Zion Grade Schools in Maintenance. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Liz Hilda Avenarius; children, Scott (Nancy) Avenarius of Cary, IL, Tammy (Bill) King of Zion, IL, Rick Avenarius of Cape Coral, FL, and Terry Criswell of Chicago, IL; five grandchildren, Travis, Chenelle, and Samantha Avenarius, and Jordan and Joshua King; and sisters, Violet (Tom) Schilling of Dubuque, lA, Vivian (Les) Kessler of Dubuque, lA, and Sally (Steve) Stillmunkes of Bellevue, IA. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Harold, and Roland Avenarius; and his parents, William Carl and Genevieve Margaret Avenarius. Visitation will be Sunday, August 26, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the CONGDON FUNERAL HOME, 3012 Sheridan Road, Zion. Funeral services will be Monday, August 27th at 10:00 a.m. at the Congdon Funeral Home with Chaplain John Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olivet Memorial Park, Zion. Memorial donations to American Cancer Society have been suggested.
