Wilbur K. Stoner, 99, former Portland resident, passed away Thursday in The Lodge in Noblesville.

He was born in Jay County on January 5, 1911, the son of Clarence Melvin and Erma (Milthaler) Stoner. He was married June 1, 1935 to Helen Locker, who passed away June 9, 2006. He retired from Sheller-Globe in Portland after 41 years. he was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Homemakers Class, Jay Lodge #87 F.& A.M. and Scottish Rite.

Surviving are one son, Larry Stoner (wife-Ethel) of Hartford City; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Kay) Gleeson of Carmel, IN; four brothers, Laurence Stoner of Daytona Beach, FL, Henry Stoner of Portland, Richard Stoner of Union City, and Dale Stoner of Union City; two sisters, Ida Mae Wolford of Tip City, and Ilagene Beebe of Dayton; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Baird-Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Dilley presiding. Burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Memorials can be made to the Asbury United Methodist Church Homemakers Class.
