Americus Vespucuies Henderson

Americus Henderson 85, of 42 Stokes Road, Yanceyville, NC died Monday, July 19, 2010 at this residence. He was a native of Caswell County, NC the son of the late Ellis Henderson and Fannie Holloway Henderson, born September 26, 1924. He was a member of Sassafras Grove Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in WWII. He was married to Margaret Stokes Henderson who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

His survivors are eight sons, Americus Murphy of Danville, VA, Robert Henderson (Melody) of Ruffin, NC, Wayne Henderson (Constance) of Yanceyville, NC, James Henderson (Hazel) of Yanceyville, NC, Roy Henderson (Nadine) of Danville, VA, Melvin Henderson (Denise) of Yanceyville, NC, Donald Henderson of Reidsville, NC and Arnold Henderson of Danville, VA; four daughters, Mrs. Marie H. Turner (Willie) of Providence, NC, Mrs. Carol Lynn (Antain) of Blanch, NC, Ms. Teresa Henderson of the home; Ms. Patricia Henderson of Milton, NC, 39 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; nieces; nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service was Friday, July 23, 2010, 2:00 PM at Sassafras Grove Baptist Church, Yanceyville NC. Pastor Carl Bigelow delivered the words of comfort with burial in the church cemetery. Military Rites were by American Legion Post 29 Honor Guard, Danville, VA. All arrangements were entrusted to Fulton Funeral Home.
