He attended the Pacific Bible Institute in Fresno and graduated with degrees in Bible and Music in 1948. There he met Dolores Bese and they married on October 23, 1949 at the First Baptist Church in Bakersfield. They had two children, Stephen and Christine. Harold farmed in the Rosedale area, growing cotton, alfalfa, wheat, carrots, and almonds. He enjoyed fishing, music, crossword puzzles, and watching Dodger baseball. After losing Dolores to cancer Harold began a long distance romance in Seattle with Doris Wiebe. Harold and Doris were married on September 8th, 1984. While Harold continued to farm they enjoyed spending time with their families and grandchildren. Together they traveled from top to bottom of the Western Hemisphere.
