BESSIE W. BOYD COOK
Bessie W. Boyd Cook, 99 years of age Warren, OH formerly of the Deskins section of Buchanan County, passed away Friday, September 17, 2004 in Newton Falls, OH. Born in Buchanan County, July 5, 1905 she was the daughter of the late Circuit Rider Rev. William Andy Boyd and Nancy Catherin Duty Boyd. She was a member of the Boyd Chapel Methodist Church at Big Fox. She had been a Christian for over 80 years.
She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. She loved cooking, sewing, gardening and canning. She lived on a farm when her children were little, where she raised most of the food for her family. She had honey bees and as a extra treat, her children would enjoyed fresh honey for breakfast. She peddled her produce in Grundy on horseback for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Alden E. Cook. Seven sons: Alonzo, Paul Monrow, James, Raynell, Odell and Bobby Lee Cook. Two daughters: Lucy and Vernie Cook. Five brothers: Joel, Andrew, Piatt, Emory and Elbert Boyd and two sisters: Priscilla Jackson and Rebecca Alola Ann.
She is survived by two daughters: Mrs Hattie Bailey of Marietta, OH and Mrs Shade (Lottie) Bailey of Warren, OH. One son Lawrence Cook of Vansant, VA. She is also survived by 20 Grandchildren, 30 Great-Grandchildren and 13 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Graveside services for Bessie W. Boyd Cook will be conducted Monday, September 20, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Clinch Valley Memorial Gardens, Richlands, VA, with Evg. Michael Trent officiating, with burial to follow.
The family will receive friends at the Cemetery at 12:30 p.m..
Family and Friends will serve as active pallbearers.
