Helene was the daughter of Friedrich Gottlieb Koser and Katharina Christiane Seiter, baptized with the surname Seiter October 6, 1907 in Althütte, Württemberg, Germany. In 1922, with the last name Koser, it was arranged for Helene to move alone to Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio. On August 5, 1922, William Staudenmayer signed an affidavit stating he would be her guardian. She left Bremen, Germany October 18, 1922 on the ship Seydlitz and arrived in New York, New York October 30, 1922.

She then lived with her mother's aunt and uncle, Christine and William Staudenmayer. On April 17, 1926, Helen (as Staudenmayer) married Franklin James Mohler in Monroe County, Michigan. Together they had daughter Leona on December 14, 1926 in Malinta, Henry County, Ohio. On December 16, 1943 Helene became a naturalized citizen. Her certificate of naturalization stated that she was 5' 4" with red hair and blue eyes. After her divorce June 29, 1948, Helen met Harry Guild, with whom she made a home until his death in 1981.

Left behind in Germany were sisters Elsa (Koser) Frankenberger and Mina (Koser) Lächele, with whom she kept in close contact. In 1959, upon the 50th wedding anniversary of Friedrich and Katharina Koser, Helen returned to Germany to celebrate. The bottom two photos listed on this memorial page were taken during that visit. Although she kept in touch this was the last time she seen her family in Germany.

Helen had been a machine operator at Taylor Press Products for 20 years and retired in 1972.

After a short stay at Imperial Manor Nursing Home, Helene died September 28, 1992 in Toledo, Lucas County, Ohio of cardiopulmonary arrest. Funeral was held at Neville Funeral Home. She was then buried at Toledo Memorial Park.

Her name was inscribed (as Helene Koser) at The American Immigrant Wall of Honor on Panel 768.
