Kathryn Joyce Hembree, 77, of Villa Rica, died Friday, June 22, 2012, at her residence.
She was born in Villa Rica, on March 28, 1935, the daughter of the late James Garfield (Buster) Hembree and the late Eva Nell Gardner Hembree. She lived her entire lifetime in this area and had worked for Walmart for about fifteen years as a door greeter. She was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church and the Sonshine Senior Adult Sunday School Class. There was a span of thirty-five years that she never missed a Sunday attending her church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, S. Doug Hembree, her sister, Shirley Hembree Garner and her brother-in-law, Charles Garner.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Jerry Watkins of Temple; one brother, Earl Hembree and his wife, Bernice, of Lineville, Alabama; two grandchildren, Jennifer Thornton and her husband, Freddie Strickland of Villa Rica and Haley Watkins of Temple; 2 step-grandchildren, Shannon Deming and Jeremy Watkins; three great grandchildren, Freddy B. Strickland, Emmanuel Strickland and Purity Strickland; her sister-in-law, Avis Hembree of Villa Rica; nieces and nephews, Diane Hembree and her husband, James, of Winston, Bonita Garner of Villa Rica, Steven Hembree and his wife Lynn, of Villa Rica, Patricia Garner and her husband Simon Caldwell of Villa Rica, Denise Seckinger of Villa Rica, Brian Hembree of Florida and Bruce Hembree of Lineville, Alabama.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, June 25, 2012, at 2:00 P.M. from the Flat Rock Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Glenn Memorial Gardens in the Flat Rock Community.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening, June 24, 2012, from 6:00-9:00 P.M.
