According to the Virginia Historical Inventory Project dated December 1st 1936 on a ridge behind the David Givens Cemetery there are several graves of Confederate soldiers who apparently drowned in Pott's Creek. The bodies were brought to the home of David Gives and kept there while the graves were being dug.

The cemetery by this point is in the middle of the woods and totally unmarked.
