Fisherman's Lodge is a historic African American cemetery founded before 1900. Its origins lie in the post antebellum community of Little Petersburg founded by previously enslaved people. The site is located on the property of the ruins of Evergreen Tabernacle #147 of the Galilean Fishermen. The forerunner to Bethel Baptist Church, the Fisherman's Lodge was part of the Galilean Fisherman's benevolent society movement of the era. The lodge served as a central gathering spot for the community and the adjacent cemetery was the primary burial ground.
There are an estimated 50-75 burials in this cemetery based on the prevalence of engraved headstones, fieldstone markers and ground depressions. The majority are marked with fieldstones. Community leaders began careful stewardship of the cemetery in 2021 after years of neglect. Accessed through private property, the cemetery is owned by nearby Bethel Baptist Church.
