The Commonwealth War Grave Commission (CWGC) records 279 Second World War burials and 69 burials from the First World War in Hull Northern Cemetery. Most of these are scattered throughout the cemetery grounds, but about 50 Second World War graves form a single plot in Compartments 200,201 and 202.
A wall of remembrance is located in Northern Cemetery to commemorate 56 casualties who were cremated at Hedon Road Crematorium and service personnel buried in the Northern Cemetery whose graves could not be marked. Casualties in other Hull area cemeteries whose graves can no longer be maintained by CWCG are also commemorated. These include 29 casualties buried in Division Road/Hessle Street Cemetery, 28 buried in Hull General Cemetery and 7 casualties buried in Sculcoates Sacristy Cemetery. Including service personnel buried elsewhere, the CWGC commemorates 298 World War II casualties (two of these are unidentified sailors of the Royal Navy) and 114 casualties of World War I. There are also 12 German and 1 Italian service personnel buried in Northern Cemetery, and 4 non-war commonwealth service burials here.
